Kaspersy Blocking Log File Access Fix.

Home News

Hi All,

I've had several reports of folks starting AC Log and being unable to access their log file today after everything was working fine yesterday. The error message they are receiving states:

"Cannot open the Microsoft Jet engine workgroup information file."

After much research by many of us, Steve, WA6DUN discovered the answer. It is not a problem with AC Log. The problem is actually being caused by Kaspersky System Watcher software. Their glitch is affecting many programs besides N3FJP Software, both at the individual and commercial level. Steve writes:

FIX FOUND!

It's Kapersky's System Watcher! They have acknowledged the problem and have a fix on the way. SEE: http://forum.kaspersky.com/lofiversion/index.php/t292998-0.html

If you are in this camp, hopefully Kaspersky will issue their fix quickly and get you up and running soon. Please follow the Kaspersky link for status updates or contact Kaspersky for additional information.

Additional Tip: Mike, W7WRJ writes:

Scott, Got it fixed thanks for the quick reply. The fastest way to fix it, is to delete the system.mdb file if it is at a 0 byte size. I found the system.mdb file in the same directory as the rest of the logging program files. Thanks for the help.

Update:

Kapersky reports that they have issued a fix, which should make its way to all users in the next few days.

Update:

I'm getting lots of reports from users of a return to normal functionality, so it appears Kaspersky has distributed thier fix to most users.

Donations are Gratefully Accepted!

And in response to the often asked question for which Kimberly and I are very grateful...

"I know your upgrades are free, but I also realize how much time and effort coding these enhancements and new programs take and that your pricing policy doesn't fully reflect that. Can I send you something to show my appreciation for your continued efforts?"

Yes, thanks so much, your continued support in any amount is very welcome and deeply appreciated! You can use this page:
