AC Log 6.4 Now Available (LoTW Download Fix)!

Home News

Hi All,

Amateur Contact Log 6.4 is Now Available!

Just today, 10/15/18, ARRL implemented a new security protocol on their web site that I originally understood would only affect AC Log users on now unsupported operating systems (XP and Vista users). It quickly became evident that all users of my software, regardless of operating system, could no longer download LoTW data from within AC Log.

Thanks to my genius son, Chris, KB3KCN, (who knows much more about Internet security than I do) and in cooperation with ARRL, we have upgraded AC Log's LoTW download code so that it will work with ARRL's new system, as long as you are running a currently supported Microsoft OS (Windows 7 and later).

To continue to be able to download from LoTW, please go ahead and follow these instructions here.

As always, upgrades are free to registered users!

For those of you running legacy operating systems that are no longer supported by Microsoft (XP and Vista for example), keep in mind that those operating systems have not received the required updates to support the new ARRL security protocols that ARRL initiated Monday. Even after upgrading to AC Log 6.4, if you want to run the LoTW download function, you will also have to upgrade your operating system to a currently supported version.

Windows 7 users, if you don't have automatic Windows updates enabled, you will need to perform this Windows update.

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation as we diagnosed and resolved the unexpected anomaly!

Addendum 1/24/19: A a super tiny subset of users running AC Log 6.4 and Windows 10 (interestingly, so far, all outside the US), still had trouble downloading from LoTW until they downloaded SSLFix.reg to their hard drive and ran it to perform a registry update fix (depending on your browser, you may have to right click and then click Save As). Lots more details of what this file does are in the last few posts of this thread here.

And in response to the questions we always receive when we neglect to include the following in our e-mail announcements...

Package Upgrade Information...

If you have registered one or more individual programs and would like to upgrade to N3FJP's Software Package or N3FJP's Software Package and CD for full use of all our Amateur Radio software, we would be glad to apply the amount that you have registered so far as a credit towards that purchase. Please send us an e-mail directly and we'll let you know your balance.

N3FJP's Software Package includes more than one hundred programs for contesting, net management, general logging and other Amateur Radio related applications. In addition to full use of all these programs, registered package customers are also entitled to receive free passwords for any new software that is added to the package and free upgrades to existing programs. You'll find all the details on the Register Now page at www.n3fjp.com.

Donations are Gratefully Accepted!

And in response to the often asked question for which Kimberly and I are very grateful...

"I know your upgrades are free, but I also realize how much time and effort coding these enhancements and new programs take and that your pricing policy doesn't fully reflect that. Can I send you something to show my appreciation for your continued efforts?"

Yes, thanks so much, your continued support in any amount is very welcome and deeply appreciated! You can use this page:

As always, thanks for your kind words, support, linking to our web site and spreading the word about our software. Kimberly and I really appreciate it!
